As a sequel to the last post “Cartoonists Are Dangerous” regarding the N
ew York Times decision to back away from the use of editorial cartoons, I’m offering a news item about another dangerous cartoonist, Homer Davenport. Davenport ultimately became one of the most renowned and financially successful cartoonists of the late 19th - early 20th century period.
I’ve had this clipping about a little known anti-cartoon bill in the cartoon vault since the 1970’s. It originally appeared in the
San Francisco Examiner November of 1976.
