After a too long hiatus I find myself once again employed in a 'non-virtual' manner. I’ve spent the last couple of years presenting art shows and events on Zoom and online as the Arts and Event Coordinator for the San Geronimo Valley Community Center but this month we actually hosted a set of on-site real-time gallery shows.

Our January shows are a collection of new paintings by Martha Cederstrom and an exhibit of the photography of Gisela Alvarado.

Cederstrom recently retired from a 30 year career teaching art and is currently working primarily in oil.

Her show is titled We All Breathe the Same Air” .

About her paintings she said “My work reflects my love of the natural world, and the juxtaposition of unexpected elements.” Bird portraits, as well as some ethereal landscapes, have consumed most of 2021, creating an oasis from the generally crazy state of the world

We had planned a solo show or her work just before the pandemic shutdown hit.  Alvarado has been extensively involved with the Latino Photo Project and has exhibited at Gallery Route One in Pt. Reyes Station, the Bolinas Museum, Toby’s Feed Barn Gallery, as well as the San Geronimo Valley Community Center’s annual Photographer’s Group Show.  This is her first solo exhibit at the Center.

Its been very gratifying to finally get some artwork back on the walls. Stay tuned for more--Larry.
